After a night on the quay in Poros we found out that there´s a Littl Supermarket on the main land side. And since some workmen started painting the quay, we thought it a good idea to relocate to the main land. After our Littl visit, were we stocked up on wine, juice, Gouda cheese, feta cheese, salami plus much more, we had a wander around the village. It was deserted, because by now all the shops were closed due to some holy Name Day.
The next morning we had the right conditions to sail to the island of Kéa, which would bring us in the Northern Cyclades. The first couple of hours we had to motor, but – as promised by the weather forecast – the wind picked up and we hoisted the main and the cruising chute. It was a great crossing and at around 5 pm we moored stern-to on the quay in Korissía. Here we met Peter and Carol who were actually anchored near us in Poros.
Carol had bought a map of the island of Kéa and the next morning all four of us took off for one of the trails mentioned on the map. This trail would eventually bring us to the chora, the ‘remains’ of four ancient cities (people actually still live there). Well, somewhere we lost the trail and we made a 2-hour detour over hills, rocks, stonewalls and private properties. The walk lasted four and a half hours, and when we finally arrived in the town, we lost Peter. Two hours later, after waiting and searching and having a beer somewhere, we gave up and were ready to get a taxi back to the boat. And then he finally showed up. He had found another pub, ordered 4 beers and waited for us to show up, assuming we couldn’t miss that pub. And of course, then he had to drink all four beers, because we didn’t show up. Since Carol was carrying the backpack with the money, we’d never even considered that he might have gone to a bar and actually order something. No need to mention that Carol wasn’t too happy with him J. Still have to grin when we think about it ….
